From the buzz of the Ashbourne Summer Party freestyle; complete with an ice cream truck, sweetie bags, dancers travelling from Kettering and Northumberland, and a floor still full at midnight — to the laughter and tradition of our annual Picnic in the Park at Markeaton, it was a weekend filled with joy, music and community spirit.
We talk about the preparation that went into making the freestyle a success, the hopes we carried into it, and the amazing feeling of seeing those hopes realised. We also share the meaning behind our picnic tradition, how it brings our Derby and Ashbourne dancers together and of course, the much loved annual Wellie Wanging competition.
